Courses Offered

Don't Shout Out are pleased to provide the following courses and workshops across Essex:

(BSL = British Sign Language)


  • Signature Level 1 BSL
    A longer course which, by the end, will enable you to hold a conversation about your family, your home life, pets, the weather, food and drink plus many other topics.

    The course consists of 3 assessments which must all be passed in order to obtain the full Level 1 Qualification

    Please note - Candidates do NOT have to have completed any "Introduction To BSL" course first

    Courses are run on a Monday and Wednesday evening. Enrolments are now being taken for our courses starting in September 2018. Please contact us for details.

  • Signature Level 2 BSL
    After completing the Level 1 Qualification, this is the next step which will widen your vocabulary range, improve your BSL structure, introduce you to roleshifts and provide a greater understanding of BSL linguistics

    The course consists of 3 assessments which must all be passed in order to obtain the full Level 2 Qualification

    Please note - Candidates MUST have obtained the Level 1 BSL Qualification before the start date of this course

    Courses are run on a Tuesday evening. Please contact us to have your name added to our waiting list for our course starting in September 2018.

  • Signature Level 3 BSL
    This course is suitable for those who have completed the Level 2 course and who wish to develp thier BSL skills further. Continuing on the learning from Level 2, it will allow you to learn more about BSL linguistics, help to improve your BSL skills to a much higher level and improve your presentation, receptive and conversation skills

    This course consists of 3 assessments which must all be passed in order to obtain the full Level 3 Qualification

    Please note - an interview will take place to ascertain a candidates suitability to the course.

    Courses are run on a Monday evening. The application process for our course starting in September 2018 has now started. Please contact us for details of our Information and Interview sessions which are being held in June and July (Please note that all applicants must attend one of our sessions before acceptance on to the course)  

  • Deaf Awareness
    A workshop which will help to improve your general Deaf Awareness skills.

    This workshop will help you to understand the dffierences in deafness, help you to identify when a person may have a hearing loss, how to improve on your communication skills with someone who has a hearing loss and give you "hints and tips" to improve the situation for both you and the deaf person concerned.

    This workshop is usually delivered over 1 x 3 hour session although this can be negotiated to suit an individual or business need.
